New Ideas

Zoom up the scale.  It seems there’s an interest in bigger bolder patterns in everything from the fabrics used in fashion clothing, draperies, and bed linens.  Carpet designs are also stepping it up.   It’s only natural that our tile should follow.

We’re looking at our larger format sizes, and are considering expanding the number of stones we can offer in 6”x12”, and 12”x24” rectangles.  The dark emperador is definite, and we’re considering ming green, and latte as well.  We may consider offering the 12”x24” rectangles in more of our slates, and these may be offered in brushed finishes.   A brushed slate and/or quartzite will soften the clefting and enhance the colors of the stone.

Consider some of our existing mosaic patterns, and zooming up their scale. Theoretically, we’d be putting a magnifying glass over the design. The Bamboo series and Lattice series are possibilities.  These larger patterns lend themselves to a more contemporary, bolder, cleaner look.   The larger size rectangles work well with the larger mosaic patterns.

Vein cut marbles are rather bold and beautiful, and part of our potential ‘New’ list.

Marbles such as  ‘wooden white’, ‘wooden gray’, and ‘athens gray’ are what we’re considering in both 4”x18” and 12”x24” rectangles.  The name ‘wooden’ is the best way to describe this vein cut marbles and so the plank shape rectangles are a play on a beautiful wood plank floor.
